Joanna Hogg Returns In The First Trailer for The Souvenir Part II

Read Time:1 Minutes, 20 Seconds

A24 has released the first official trailer for Joanna Hogg’s The Souvenir Part II, the sequel to Hogg’s previous film, The Souvenir, in which Hogg told a semi-autobiographical story about her experiences at film school.

Click the YouTube play button below to watch the trailer.

Plot Synopsis: In the aftermath of her tumultuous relationship with a charismatic and manipulative older man, Julie begins to untangle her fraught love for him in making her graduation film, sorting fact from his elaborately constructed fiction.

Joanna Hogg’s shimmering story of first love and a young woman’s formative years, The Souvenir Part II is a portrait of the artist that transcends the halting particulars of everyday life — a singular, alchemic mix of memoir and fantasy.

The film features stars like Honor Swinton Byrne, Jaygann Ayeh, Richard Ayoade, Ariane Labed, James Spencer Ashworth, Harris Dickinson, Charlie Heaton, Joe Alwyn, and Tilda Swinton.

The Souvenir Part II releases in theaters on October 29th. New York Film Festival attendees can catch it at 3:45 PM today.

What do you think of the trailer? Personally, I have no context for any of this. I rented The Souvenir probably three times, but never found the time to watch it. Nevertheless, I’m excited to see what Hogg does this time around. Maybe I’ll even try and fit in time to see both films back to back.

What do you think, though? Let me know your thoughts, though, in the comments below or on any social networks I’m on!

Until next time!
