Christian Bale’s Gorr the God Butcher Arrives in the Second Trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder

A month and change after the first trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder, Marvel Studios released another trailer for the film during Game 4 of the NBA Eastern Conference Finals, which reveals Christian Bale's character, Gorr the God Butcher.

In the sequel to Thor: Ragnarok (also directed by Taika Waititi), viewers are treated to a look at what the God of Thunder (Chris Hemsworth) has been up to since Avengers: Endgame. I won't go too deep into spoiler territory, but it looks like he's been working out, trying to find inner peace, which is quickly interrupted by the arrival of Gorr, a creature whose solemn vow is simple, "All gods must die." To help out, Thor asks for help from Korg (Taika Waititi), King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), and his ex-girlfriend, Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who just so happens to be worthy of wielding Mjölnir.

Besides the fact that she's wielding Mjölnir, not much has been revealed about Foster's appearance in the film, and the MCU has long eclipsed my knowledge of the comics. Still, I'm super excited to see Thor: Love and Thunder in theaters on July 8th.
