Disney+ Day Returns on September 8th as a D23 Lead-in
Last year, Disney created Disney+ Day to celebrate the second anniversary of Disney+, the company's streaming service for films and television shows from their brands such as Marvel, National Geographic, Walt Disney Studios, Star Wars, and Pixar.
This year, Disney+ Day returns a little earlier than expected: Thursday, September 8th, 2022, as a way for The Walt Disney Company to lead into the D23 Expo, a fan expo held biennially, which is Disney's version of Comic Con. This year's Disney+ Day celebration will include premieres like the live-action Pinocchio and plenty of news about Disney+ Originals.
You can catch the teaser poster & trailer for Pinocchio, which stars Tom Hanks, Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, Cynthia Erivo, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Keegan-Michael Key, Lorraine Bracco, and Luke Evans below.
Robert Zemeckis directed this retelling of the Disney animated classic. Tom Hanks stars as Geppetto, the wood carver who builds and treats Pinocchio (Benjamin Evan Ainsworth) as if he were his son. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is Jiminy Cricket, who serves as Pinocchio's guide and his "conscience"; Cynthia Erivo is the Blue Fairy; Keegan-Michael Key is "Honest" John; Lorraine Bracco is Sofia the Seagull, a new character, and Luke Evans is The Coachman. Also in the cast are Kyanne Lamaya as Fabiana (and her marionette Sabina), Giuseppe Battiston as Señor Stromboli and Lewin Lloyd as Lampwick.
Robert Zemeckis, Derek Hogue, Andrew Miano, Chris Weitz, and Paul Weitz are the film's producers, with Jackie Levine, Jack Rapke, Alexandra Derbyshire, and Jeremy Johns serving as the executive producers.
