Hasan Minhaj Will Host the 2023 Film Independent Spirit Awards
With a little more than a month until the awards ceremony, Film Independent, the non-profit organization behind the Spirit Awards as well as many other independent filmmaker-focused programs, announced that comedian Hasan Minhaj will host the 2023 Film Independent Spirit Awards.

This year's Spirit Awards ceremony will take place in person on Santa Monica Beach on March 4th and will be live-streamed on IMDb and other social media networks, including Film Independent's YouTube channel, starting at 2 PM PST.
If you are unfamiliar with Minhaj's career, here's a quick glimpse. In 2014, Jon Stewart hired Minhaj as a correspondent on his show, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. From there, he went on to sell out arenas on both coasts, hosted the White House Correspondent's Dinner, and hosted six seasons of the Netflix series Patriot Act with Hasan Minhaj, which earned him two Peabody awards.
In 2019, he was named one of TIME's "100 Must Influential People. His recent work includes the Netflix comedy special The King's Jester and a role on the Apple+ hit The Morning Show. The founder of production shingle 186K Films, Minhaj is currently in production on his feature debut, For The Culture.
The 2023 Film Independent Spirit Awards' film nominees were announced by Taylour Paige and Raúl Castillo online on November 22nd. You can watch the announcement here.

Starting this Friday, Film Independent Members can vote on who should win a Spirit Award this year. However, Film Independent encourages Members only to vote in categories where they've seen ALL the nominees.
