Prey Finally Gets A 4K, Blu-ray, and DVD Release this October
A year after Dan Trachtenberg’s Prey debuted on Hulu and after much public outcry, the official 4K, Blu-ray, and DVD release date has been announced by Disney. The seventh film in the Predator franchise and one of the many reboots takes place in 1719 on the Great Plains with Naru, a member of a local band of Comanche, mistaking the animal she tracked for prey (roll credits).
Releasing on Tuesday, October 3rd, on a store shelf near you, the home release of Prey features a making-of featurette, an FYC panel featuring director Dan Trachtenberg, actor Amber Midthunder, producer Jhane Myers, director of photography Jeff Cutter, film editor Angela M.Catanzaro and creature effects designer Alec Gillis, an alternative opening scene, two deleted scenes, and an audio commentary by Dan Trachtenberg, Amber Midthunder, Jeff Cutter & Angela M. Catanzaro.
For super collectors out there, Prey’s 4K Blu-ray release will also have a SteelBook designed by popular digital artist Attila Szarka that will be exclusive to Best Buy.
As mentioned, this is a big win for proponents of owning physical media versions of streaming titles. Now folks can rest easy that if Prey does vanish off of Hulu someday, at least there will be a way to watch it legally.
Even better, Disney seems to have invested in the bonus features on this one, so I’m hoping that Disney is learning that if there are enough special features and demand, consumers will buy their Blu-rays.
Below are the details for Prey's physical release (which includes a Comanche audio track in all formats of the film!), along with tech specs.
