The Green Knight Comes Home This Thursday

A24 and David Lowery's most recent film (as of this writing), The Green Knight, will be available everywhere you rent movies this Thursday, mere hours after the film premieres in the A24 Screening Room.

It is not immediately clear how much the rental fee will be, but my best guess will be that it will be a premium rental ($20), given that Zola, another film released by A24, is currently available to rent for that price.

An epic fantasy adventure based on the timeless Arthurian legend, The Green Knight tells the story of Sir Gawain (Dev Patel), King Arthur's reckless and headstrong nephew, who embarks on a daring quest to confront the eponymous Green Knight, a gigantic emerald-skinned stranger and tester of men. Gawain contends with ghosts, giants, thieves, and schemers in what becomes a deeper journey to define his character and prove his worth in the eyes of his family and kingdom by facing the ultimate challenger.  From visionary filmmaker David Lowery comes a fresh and bold spin on a classic tale from the knights of the round table.

The Green Knight also stars Alicia Vikander, Joel Edgerton, Sarita Choudhury, Sean Harris, Kate Dickie, Barry Keoghan and Ralph Ineson.

For those who are keeping track or are just curious, the film will have been in theaters nineteen days before releasing on the A24 Screening Room and a full twenty days when it releases everywhere else. Zola followed a similar release strategy, with a nineteen day gap between its theatrical debut and A24 Screening Room debut. The premium VOD rental release followed two days later. So, don't be surprised if Lamb, A24's next film, comes to the A24 Screening Room on October 27th, with a PVOD rental release on October 28th or 29th.
