Read Time:1 Minutes, 1 Seconds

Jockey, the film, which won the Sundance Film Festival U.S. Dramatic Special Jury Award for star Clifton Collins Jr.’s acting, will premiere in theaters in New York and Los Angeles on December 29th, 2021. Sony Pictures Classics acquired the film out of Sundance 2021 the night before its premiere in the U.S. Dramatic Competition section. After the film’s premiere, the film will transition to a wider release across the United States.

The film is directed by Clint Bentley and written by Bentley and Greg Kwedar. The film also stars Molly Parker, Moises Arias, Logan Cormier, and Colleen Hartnett.

In Jockey, Clifton Collins Jr. plays an aging jockey who hopes to win one last title for his longtime trainer (Parker), who has acquired what could be a championship horse. But the years and injuries he’s accumulated over his career have taken a toll on his body, causing his ability to continue his career into question. After the arrival of a young rookie rider (Arias), who claims to be his son, he takes him under his wing, further complicating the path to his dream.

Jockey will play at TIFF 2021 and the Hamptons International Film Festival before premiering in NY & LA.

Until next time!
